No matter how passionate or talented, very few people can create a full time, long-term career as a yoga teacher. That’s why so many teachers are turning to the rapidly growing field of yoga therapy and its many career options. Learn about what it takes to become a yoga therapy practitioner and whether you’re ready for the transition.
In this webinar, we will explore the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to be a yoga therapist and what it means to actually practice. It is necessary for a yoga therapist to be grounded in foundational philosophy, the yoga principles and the practice of yoga and have a thorough understanding of physiology, pathophysiology, biomedicine, anatomy, and kinesiology so that they can apply the tools of yoga safely and appropriately in a therapeutic context. Having a working knowledge of medical terminology equips the yoga therapist with tools to participate as a member of an integrative health team. We will explore the competencies required to be a yoga therapist, the prerequisite preparation and training, and identify key steps to making the transition – yoga teacher to yoga therapist
