Ever have ‘butterflies in your stomach’, or a ‘racing heart’? Stress can directly affect your digestion and cardiovascular health, sometimes to dire consequences such as irritable bowel syndrome, hypertension, and even heart attack. In addition to exploring the physiology of stress in these two body systems, this participatory session gets you moving right in your seat with simple ‘deskercise’ movements to exercise your heart and release stress-busting hormones. We will cover digestion-friendly probiotics and heart-healthy Omega-3 fatty acids while enjoying a high-anti-oxidant, heart-healthy (and tasty) iced herbal tea.
75-90% of all visits to primary care physicians result from stress-related disorders." - Paul Rosch, President, American Institute of Stress
Stress not only affects our mental state, but it can have a negative impact on physical health as well. In this 3-part interactive workshop, we will identify common stressors and explore possible ways to limit exposure as well as reduce their negative effects on our bodies. Together we will discover behavioral and dietary choices that lead to a feeling of wellness, and we will discuss (and sample!) common, safe herbs to support vital body functions along the way. Participants will gain practical knowledge to immediately begin to incorporate into their daily lives to manage stress.
