Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH), a leading integrative health and wellness graduate school, today announced the addition of five members to the University’s board of trustees. The new members will provide strategic insight and support for the University’s focus on growth in educating tomorrow’s health and wellness workforce.

“It was and still is astonishing to find such an affinity for the work and efforts of this great institution,” said Adele Wilzack, MUIH board chair. “Each of the individuals chosen is deeply passionate about the field of integrative health. By bringing their unique world experience and professional competencies, they’ll help support MUIH’s future growth in the world.”

MUIH president and CEO, Frank Vitale, noted that the new board members will provide significant guidance and support to the University’s ambitious strategic initiatives.” He added “over the next five years we anticipate doubling the number of academic programs currently offered including doctorate level degrees for the evolving field of integrative health care.”

Jonathan W. Anders, Chief Strategy Officer of 360 DigitalHealth, Former CEO of Allegeant, LLC – As the CEO of a leading independently owned, wellness-focused, accountable care solutions company in the mid-Atlantic region, Mr. Anders spearheads numerous successful and innovative approaches to reducing employer healthcare costs. He also serves as the chairman of a joint legislative committee created by Maryland Association of Health Underwriters and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.

David Fogel, M.D., Co-Founder and CEO, Casey Health Institute – Dr. Fogel spent more than two years surveying the country in search of best practices in integrative healthcare. Based on his findings, in 2013, he and his wife, Dr. Ilana Bar-Levav, co-founded the Casey Health Institute (CHI), a primary care center in Gaithersburg, Md., that utilizes a unique practice management model to coordinate both medical and complimentary therapies for the benefit of the patient.

Christopher Formant, Business Consultant – Named by Consulting Magazine as one of 2006’s top 25 consultants, Mr. Formant most recently served as president of Avaya Government Solutions and Avaya Global Services. His leadership as a business and technology development executive has earned him the J.D. Power and Associates Award for outstanding technology and services for two consecutive years. He has served as managing partner and global banking leader for PricewaterhouseCoopers and executive vice president of MBNA Corp.

Janet Kahn, Ph.D., Research Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry at the University of Vermont – Dr. Kahn is a highly sought-after and respected leader in the field of integrative health and clinical research. She serves as a senior policy advisor for the Consortium of Academic Health Centers for Integrative Medicine and is a member of the Federal Advisory Group on Prevention, Health Promotion, and Integrative and Public Health, an appointment announced by President Barack Obama. 

Bonnie J. Kramer, Principal, Kramer Consulting – Ms. Kramer has more than 30 years of experience as an international management consultant. Prior to founding Kramer Consulting, she served as a senior management consultant to the World Bank Group with a focus on corporate strategy, organizational development, and global presence. She also served as a culture change advisor to the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations, and is a graduate of Maryland University of Integrative Health’s Master of Acupuncture program.
